Named by Alan Bartholomai and Ralph Molnar, 1981
Diet: Herbivore (Tough plants such as cycads, as its teeth were ideal to slice through)
Type: Ornithopod iguanodontia (rhabdodontid) dinosaur
Size: 26 feet (8 meters) long and 2.7 tons.
Region: Eastern Australia (Queensland and New South Wales)
Age: Early Cretaceous (106 to 98 million BC; Albian to Early Cenomanian)
Enemies: Theropods such as Rapator, a megaraptorid nicknamed "Lightning Claw" that was found in Lightning Ridge in New South Wales, Australia, 2015, with unusually large claws and was 23 feet (7 meters) long, making it Australia's largest carnivorous dinosaur (www.australiangeographic.com.a…)

Info: First discovered in 1963 by grazier Doug Langdon near the town of Muttaburra in Queensland, Australia, Muttaburrasaurus, along with the armored Cretaceous ankylosaur Minmi, was one of Australia's most completely known dinosaurs ever found. A bulky plant-eater that probably roamed in herds and had teeth designed to slice through tough vegetation such as cycads, Muttaburrasaurus had a hollow nasal bump in front of its eyes, which may have heightened the sense of smell, or even inflate to produce sounds in order to communicate members of its own kind.
