Size: 30 feet (7 to 9 meters) long and 3.3 tons (Note: The actual size of this animal is estimated as it is known from a partial skull)

Info: Named in honor of Roberto Abel, who discovered it as well as being the former director of the provicial Museum of Cipolletti in Argentina, the discovery of Abelisaurus in the 1980's was important, because it clarified the classification of many mid-sized to large carnivorous theropod dinosaurs known as the abelisaurs that are mainly found in the southern hemisphere (example- South America: Carnotaurus, Aucasaurus, Skorpiovenator, Ekrixinatosaurus, etc.; Africa: Rugops, Kryptops, etc.; Madagascar: Majungasaurus and Dahalokely; and India: Rajasaurus and Indosuchus) (Note: There were a few species of abelisaurs, such as the recently-discovered Arcovenator, that are found in southern Europe). Sadly, despite all this, because this theropod is known from a partial skull, we know very few about Abelisaurus.

Note: Based on Gregory S. Paul's skull work. Both based on dinoraul's colorations, mostly the female sleeping on the left (s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/2…). Where as I normally drew dinosaurs just standing, walking, fighting, and feeding, I thought drawing them sleeping would be good, including maybe a sleeping, cuddling couple.
